10 no longer works to call the operator.
[edit]I just tried it, to make sure. Andy 86.47.42.162 (talk) 15:41, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Operator services i.e. 10 and 114 are only available to eircom home/business customers. If your line is provided by someone else or your line rental is with someone else you cannot access them. They are also not available from mobiles or payphones. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.94.235.149 (talk) 23:37, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
911 is NOT supported on the Irish phone network
[edit]Please do not add 911 to the operator services list. It is absolutely not supported by the Irish telephone network. Some mobile handsets may recognise 911 and route calls to 112. This is a function of the particular handset and not the telephone network.
The North American code 911 does not work to access emergency services in Ireland. Some mobile phone handsets accept all common emergency codes i.e. 112, 999, 911 and 000. These are flagged as a GSM emergency call and routed appropriately. However, only 999 and 112 are supported by the Irish telephone network. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.94.235.149 (talk) 23:37, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Area Code 09 description changed
[edit]Changed from "West" to "Midlands and West" in the interests of accuracy. For example area code 090 includes Moate and Glasson, both of which are east of the river Shannon, the traditional divider of East and West of Ireland. The town of Athlone (area code 090) has both an east and west side but is predominately in Leinster which in turn cannot be called "The West".
