The creation of this Wikipedia page

[edit]

I was surprised that this tv show didn't have a wiki-page (today being the day after the first episode was aired) so I made one. However, this page is a bit rubbish (albeit wiki notable) so any improvements would be appreciated.

Thanks so much to everyone who has made the page less rubbish (Btw, it was I who created the page and wrote the above comment, but I'd forgotton to sign it.--TimothyJacobson (talk) 13:05, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No. of questions asked

[edit]

On the article page it said "Each question is multiple-choice, with the first four questions having four choices and the fifth and sixth questions having three. No contestant has yet made it to the seventh or eighth question, so it is unclear how many choices are available for those questions." The very first pair of contestants made it to the seventh question, and I have amended the page accordingly. However, I feel that somewhere online it would give the rule for the eighth question--TimothyJacobson (talk) 14:38, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, now we know. Stifle (talk) 21:54, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Number of contestants

[edit]

On the article page it says "(single contestants can also apply, but to date, none of the contestants on the show have appeared alone)". I was wondering whether someone could clarify this. There may still be no solo players, it is possible that they would just team up two people who applied alone to make a team. I think this should be amended--TimothyJacobson (talk) 14:41, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's unclear. Stifle (talk) 21:24, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
They said on their twitter account that you can apply alone or with a pair, but to date, nobody has been on the show alone... 81.98.98.6 (talk) 15:51, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously, as of last night, they have now.--TimothyJacobson (talk) 08:14, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Do they also pick the thickest people on purpose? Lugnuts (talk) 20:52, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Coin toss

[edit]

According to a recent edit, "At the beginning of each question, the contestants has to pick a category of the two choices they are given. If they do not do it quickly, then Davina will toss the coin."

Surely it is not at the beginning of each question if the subject hasn't been chosen yet. Would "at the beginning of each round" be better?

Also, Davina has only said this once on the show; it may not be a rule. It could have been an empty threat or a joke. Could someone verify this is a rule please.--TimothyJacobson (talk) 18:41, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think Davina has said it much more times throughout the show in the past two days, and she was about to do it yesterday, but the contestants actually said the category.
I do also agree with your comments and I will update this 81.98.98.6 (talk) 19:04, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like it's a rule. Stifle (talk) 21:55, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Name of the show

[edit]

The name of the show is "The million Pound Drop Live" not "the million pound drop"

Finale of series 90 minutes

[edit]

The article says "with a series finale on Saturday being 90 minutes long." I think it should say sowhere that the show was supposed to only go on for the usual 65mins but it went on longer so that the contestants could finish.(in the tv listings it was only down for 65mins")

Christmas Specials

[edit]

The Christmas Specials are seperate to the Main Series so should be in a seperate table. Please stop changing this. --MSalmon (talk) 09:59, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.tvguide.co.uk/detail.asp?id=81393501 Season 3 Episode 1 of 4 New series.
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-million-pound-drop-live/episode-guide/series-3/episode-12 Series 3
Like I said the Christmas Specials are seperate to the Main Series as any contestants that don't win any money are given treats by choosing a drop from A-D and they get that prize behind that drop.
That doesn't make the 'specials' any less of a main series. It's just a gimmick for these episodes. In addition as I have said already, Channel4 calls it series 3, so are you really saying that your opinion holds more weight than what the broadcaster states? And when the fourth series begins next year, are you going to then carry on with your inaccuracies and maintain - in spite of what Channel4 says - that Wikipedia call that series Series 3? It is a main series, just with a nice added treat for Christmas. Nothing more nothing less. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.107.151.215 (talk) 11:03, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure here. Now I understand that it is a xmas special, but the only difference is that they go home with a prize if the contestants lose. Maybe we can put in brackets of series 3 that it is a Xmas special, so people will know. But I am not sure if we should have a separate table. I will leave it as it is until I am convinced either way Mr tim111 (talk) 12:06, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have merged them into one table and added Christmas in brackets after Series 3 so people will know --MSalmon (talk) 12:12, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Issue with an answer

[edit]

On Friday the 15th of August two of the teachers from Educating Yorkshire got a question asking them which official visit never happened. They got through as they put money on the answer about David Cameron visiting Cameroon as it never happened. I have an issue with another answer which was something like "François Hollande visited the country Holland" which they put money on. Holland is only an area of the Netherlands consisting of two provinces so no country called Holland exists therefore this should also be a correct answer as he couldn't visit a country that doesn't exist. I haven't found any newspapers commenting on this but I believe this should also be on the main page.PlayStation 14 (talk) 12:21, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Series 4

[edit]

Starts next month according to the current 'January 2011' C4 trailer. No indication of exact star date or length though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.146.247.92 (talk) 01:28, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Friday 13th May 2011 episode

James and Ash won £100,000, can someone add this? calvin999 (talk) 21:21, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Added, but you could have been bold and added it yourselves... Mr tim111 (talk) 21:25, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
