[edit]

is it an oil on panel or oil on canvas ?--Arnaugir (talk) 20:56, 14 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Arnaugir! According to the NGA's page on this painting it's oil on canvas. I've fixed that now. Mabalu (talk) 01:32, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:The Dance Lesson by Edgar Degas.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on March 24, 2017. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2017-03-24. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 01:45, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Dance Lesson
The Dance Lesson is an oil on canvas painting by the French artist Edgar Degas created around 1879. The first of a series of paintings by Degas in a horizontal, frieze-like format, it draws some inspiration from Japanese prints in its positioning of dancers and musical instruments. It is currently kept at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.Painting: Edgar Degas
