The result of the move request was: not moved. Per consensus. (closed by non-admin page mover) – robertsky (talk) 01:45, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

– Fails WP:TWODABS, specifically "If the titles of two articles differ only in capitalization, pluralization, spacing, or punctuation, the articles each should contain a hatnote to link to each other." "The Emtpy House" tout court is unambiguously the name of the novel - the Sherlock Holmes story is "The Adventure of the Empty House" - so WP:SMALLDETAILS would suggest that as the name of the novel's article. Note: pages with content, such as The Empty House, are ineligible to be proposed titles in move requests unless they, too, are formally dispositioned. "The Empty House → Deleted to make way for page move" has been added to this request to meet that requirement. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 16:19, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Not a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. The only clickthroughs from the disambiguation page shown by WikiNav are 24 to the Sherlock Holmes story (meaning there were <10 for the novel). "The Empty House" is also the episode name of the Granada adaptation of "The Adventure of the Empty House", even aside from The Adventure of being boilerplate in a Sherlock Holmes short story. • If the primary meaning of "The Empty House" is the Sherlock Holmes story, a solution compliant with WP:TWODABS (but not WP:NATDIS) would be to have The Empty House redirect to the Sherlock Holmes story, and keep the novel article at its current location with a {{redirect}} hatnote on the Sherlock Holmes story article. I wouldn't object to this solution, although my preference is to comply with both guidelines and move the novel article. Tevildo (talk) 17:02, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per SilverLocust. No need for The Empty House redundant disambiguation page, created September 2020, which should redirect to the Empty House dab page, created April 2016, and both The Empty House (novel) as well as The Adventure of the Empty House should be listed there. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 06:35, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • Sounds like a reasonable solution (although still not strictly compliant with WP:NATDIS). If there's no consensus for the move, I'd support this option as an alternative. Tevildo (talk) 07:22, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Roman Spinner's recommendation. (This doesn't result in natural disambiguation, but that doesn't mean it isn't "compliant" with WP:NATDIS. NATDIS is for when a natural title is fully disambiguated, unlike here.) SilverLocust 💬 18:06, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
