This article is written in American English, which has its own spelling conventions (color, defense, traveled) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

Modern Names

Some of Melville's names differ significantly from modern names. My best guesses:

Roca Redondo - Rock Rodondo (note: page does not currently exist)
Santa Fe Island - Barrington Isle
Floreana Island - Charles's Isle (this is the King, not the naturalist. Charles Darwin hadn't
Santa Cruz Island (Galápagos) - Norfolk Isle (here)
Española Island - Hood's Isle

Style question: which is preferable, explicit links: ...Rock Rodondo (now called Roca Redonda)... or implicit ones: ... Rock Rodondo... ? Aldenrw (talk) 17:44, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Section "The Sketches" renamed "Plot"

The section "The Sketches" offers a summary of the sketches, and therefore should be titled "Plot". So I have given it that title.MackyBeth (talk) 12:38, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
