Wah Chang
[edit]"the union refused to allow him into their guild for the simple reason that his skills were superior to most of the guild's current members"?!? What is the source for this information? This doesn't sound very plausible to me. Rather, it sound suspiciously like a biased personal account. Or opinion, at best. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.55.216.24 (talk) 20:29, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- That does sound fishy. I've also heard on the Trekmovie website that the Romulan ship model was destroyed in a fire, which is why the Klingon ships were used in this episode.THD3 (talk) 21:15, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, that sounds like a claim that was made at a bar right after he regaled everyone with a tale about his one-night stand with Angela Joie. In other words, a total crock.
I did some research on this when cleaning up the section trying to find the truth. I stumbled across three possibilities: Wah destroyed it with a sledgehammer in a fit of rage, it was stepped on by staff when moving it for filming, and that it was destroyed to appease the union. None of them sourced, just statements in articles. I think (with the fire story above) since we have 4 stories we shouldn't post anything until we can find a valid source. Just an observation, the article specifically addresses the models and that 2 of the 3 ships used were Klingon, I distinctly remember, and there are stills on the internet, showing all there ships were of Klingon design. And that when they remastered the space scenes, they added a Romulan Ship in place of one of the original Klingon ships. This would match what you are relating above. First Draft Script
[edit]I own a copy of the first draft script which has the dialogue relating to the improved cloaking device. Does my word count? Would someone like a photocopy of the page with the dialogue? Sir Rhosis 20:28, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
- (Do I count as a "citation?")
- No, you cannot cite yourself! See Wikipedia:Citing sources. Cyberia23 21:11, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
- Why not include a reference to the publication containing the script? Jtk6204 01:46, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
The script I own is a mimeo of the original script itself. It is not "published." Sir Rhosis 02:15, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
- No one is doubting your word, but the fact that you have this script and are able to refer to it directly is not stated in the article. Whether or not it was ever published, the article could use a citation from it as a footnote, containing the name of the author or authors, the date when it was created, its format, its circulation, and perhaps the actual verbatim quote to which you refer. Three questions
[edit]1) What was it that took Chekov so long to distinguish Spock from the Romulans? He was only half Vulcan!
Addendum: It was a television show. They wanted drama, that's why.
2) Why did the Federation never use the cloaking device afterwards while it obviously was compatible with their own technique?
Addendum: The cloak represents submarines in space. WW2 was still fresh on people's minds. (Roddenberry served in WW2) The Germans used submarines (U Boats) to the fullest, sinking and killing any and everyone. Submarine attacks were considered to be "dirty pool" and quite dishonorable. See next question:
3) The whole thing was a dirty trick and an act of piracy. How could the authors ever justify such a massive violation of interstellar law? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.141.212.149 (talk) 20:03, 8 April 2007 (UTC).
Addendum: What's missing in the trivia for this episode is how it is based around real events. The USS Pueblo was captured by the North Koreans while on a spy mission. I don't have the reference in hand, but surely someone knows where to find it. In the meantime. click this: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Uss_pueblo&redirect=no
Notes
[edit]The Notes section seems to be full of oddities and errors. Could an expert take a look at it? Thanks in advance. Lots42 (talk) 21:44, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
The final note mentioning the speed of Warp 9 can be explained by the second season episode "By Any Other Name" where Adromodans alter the ship to travel at much higher speeds. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.42.128.8 (talk) 20:56, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Title: Enterprise or Enterprise?
[edit]So the title of this episode is "The Enterprise Incident" shouldn't it be listed as such, without italics? Just because the ship name, Enterprise is italicized to show it is a ship name in an article, I'm not sure that extends to italicizing it in a title, when the on-screen title doesn't have it italicized. Anybody have a clue about this? StarHOG (Talk) 13:48, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Another reference
[edit]Not sure if it should go on the article, but there was a ST:TOS chess set heavily advertised in U.S. science-fiction magazines during the early 1990s which had the female Romulan commander as the queen piece on the non-Federation side (see https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Trek_Commemorative_Chess_Set )... AnonMoos (talk) 22:28, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- Be bold! Add it...certainly belongs under popular culture, right? StarHOG (Talk) 15:10, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- The female Romulan commander chess piece was highlighted in the early 90s magazine ad, but doesn't seem to be highlighted in what turns up in Google search results, and I'm not really seeing reliable sources. If I had the information in fully Wikipedia-acceptable form, I probably would have already added it to the article... AnonMoos (talk) 02:08, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
