Photo vantage

[edit]

I think a really good photo of the Gap could be taken from Waterworks Rd in Ashgrove, looking west - you can really see the gap between the two hillsPaddington62 08:56, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have attempted to make the references in the infobox work, but am continually experiencing problems with this. Maybe somebody else might be able to work out the problem. Figaro 11:17, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think I have fixed it. No white space. Rimmeraj 12:11, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You have indeed fixed the problem and everything is now working correctly. Thanks. Figaro 12:16, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

problem with street map for the area

[edit]

There is a problem with the street map which is used for The Gap. I notice that the street map for the Bardon article shows the eastern part of The Gap, where the suburb adjoins Ashgrove and St John's Wood. Could the present street map please be replaced by the street map which is used for Bardon - or else replaced by the street map page which connects to the Bardon street map page. Thanks. Thank you for fixing things up. Figaro 11:01, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Complaint about the page

[edit]

THIS ARTICLE DOES NOT QUOTE ITS SOURCES OF INFORMATION AND HALF OF IT IS ABSOLUTE RUBBISH... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.221.63.210 (talkcontribs) .

Feel free to help improve it. We need all the help we can get. (Though you may want to learn how to turn the caps key off first). Rimmeraj 10:22, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
To the anonymous poster (203.221.63.210) — please state your reasons for making such a comment and exactly what you feel about the article to be rubbish. Your just saying that it is rubbish (without giving any reason for your comment) does not necessarily make it so — and 'shouting' about it, the way you have done (writing exclusively in capitals is the internet equivalent to shouting), does not do anything to engender respect from other people, or make your words worthy to be taken notice of.
Finally, you are supposed to 'sign' your comments on talk pages when you write a comment (which is requested, and where instructions are also given about how to do so, whenever the talk page is being edited). Figaro 12:19, 19

The Storm?

[edit]

I thought maybe an entire section could be included on the storm of 16th november 08? Considering The Gap was the worst hit area, this was a pretty major event for The Gap. DSantomauro (talk) 08:33, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good to see a section on the storm itself! Was just wondering what is the "policy" for youtube references? Iv seen people reference youtube videos in wikipedia before, thought maybe videos of the storm could be mentioned? Unless thats not informatic. Also please note the photo references are all the same... should only include one of them that links to the galleryDSantomauro (talk) 10:33, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Although the storm may have seemed epochal in November 2008, in a longer perspective it is difficult to see a weather event that led to no loss of life being a truly notable event. At present, it dominates the page! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vonhangman (talkcontribs) 00:45, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Gold mine near Payne Road State School.

[edit]

I just removed "A gold mine was located near the entrance to Payne Road Primary School. [citation needed]" as I have searched the Qld Govt's lists of historic mine workings without success. The local historical society doesn't know of it. Trove searches failed to find anything but there was a gold mine at The Gap at Charters Towers (a possible source of confusion?). Happy to see it re-instated if someone can find a whiff of a source. Kerry (talk) 06:30, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in The Gap, Queensland

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of The Gap, Queensland's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
