School arts performances[edit]

The schools drama department's production of "Romeo and Juliet" was performed at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith, in October 2009 following a sellout run at Greenwich Theatre.^{[citation needed]} The last Kidbrooke School production to be performed at this venue was the largely successful "Hotel World" by Ali Smith, a performance which earned the title of Best Play in the Edinburgh Fringe Report Awards.^[1] In August 2010, Romeo and Juliet ran for a successful week at the Edinburgh Fringe festival led by director L. Cuthbertson;^[2] earning several four to five star reviews^{[citation needed]}. The play was modernized to highlight issues of knife crime and social disorder prevalent in the Kidbrooke community, in association with the Jimmy Mizen foundation,^[3] and this, as well as powerful representations of characters such as Tybalt, Juliet, and Nurse Angelica^[4] were particular points of acclaim from Fringe critics.^[5]

Legal change- March 2018[edit]

I am flagging this up as ip-editor has made a few changes, which appear to come from inside knowledge. Kidbrooke as the UK first purpose built comprehensive is historically important, as is the building. A change from a Co-operative trust to being managed by a MAT is a sensitive issue- and there is a case for keeping Corelli/Kidbrooke as a school that has closed. I agree with Clem Rutter. The new school may share the same site as the former Corelli but is completely outside of the control and establishment of Corelli or Kidbrooke.

Corelli couldn't find enough staff and closed. The site has been taken on as a new concern by new ownership and management and is no longer owned and paid for by the local community

Mixed sex intake[edit]

I changed the date for when Kidbrooke started taking boys from 1982 to 1980 - I know it was 1980 because I was one of them! 90 boys started at Kidbrooke in September 1980, along with the 1800 girls who were already there - it was terrifying! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.99.211.130 (talk) 08:50, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
