First film based on a toy franchise
[edit]I read somewhere that Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure was the first film - it was released back in 1977. Esn 20:26, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Film cut into episodes or episodes compiled into film?
[edit]it was later edited into the series' first five episodes
I was always under the impression that the first five episodes were written as such (and certainly the fact one has a different writing team reinforces this) and only put together as a film to a) capitalise on the success of the He-Man, b) make it easier to launch She-Ra overseas (where the cartoon may not yet have arrived) and c) boost sales.
Is there any evidence the story was conceived as a film from the outset? Timrollpickering 08:52, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
I read somewhere that the first five episodes of the series had extra and/or longer scenes that were edited out of the theatrical release. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.8.230.39 (talk) 03:26, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes there are additional bits in the individual episodes - from recollection these are mainly longer versions of particular scenes. Timrollpickering (talk) 01:29, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
The movie made $7.5 million. The $6.5 million box office intake noted on this page & by NYT is wrong.
[edit]According to IMDb https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089984/ , Box Office Mojo , and late Filmation President Lou Scheimer himself https://books.google.com/books?id=UROrDgAAQBAJ&pg=PA202&lpg=PA202&dq=Tom+Sito+Mattel&source=bl&ots=-hrYWsS0wS&sig=ACfU3U2X7OrjjHpsa_IHutxSkn0s-_mfpA&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjasaup5LTzAhUrFlkFHUUxAKoQ6AF6BAgPEAM#v=onepage&q=Tom%20Sito%20Mattel&f=false, the movie's final tally was over $7.5 million. The New York Times $6.5 million was an earlier estimate, & the wikipedia page should reflect the higher & more accurate total. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:150:4100:6b10:4457:8514:9a72:a028 (talk • contribs)
The film made $7.5 million, and records reflect this. I don't know why someone reverted it to hide that fact, but the redaction amounts to misinformation.

- You know that you’re spamming this talk page, right? You just repeated the exact same thing you posted above, there was no need to repeat yourself here. ‐‑🌀SilSinnAL982100💬 06:46, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
