Tolkien's influences → Influences on J. R. R. Tolkien – The article is about what influenced Mr. Tolkien. The current title is ambiguous and may include how Mr. Tolkien influenced others. Some examples of the proposed name format are Finnish influences on Tolkien and Shakespeare's influence on Tolkien. Gjs238 (talk) 12:20, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- PS: As per format used in Category:Issues of cultural influence - Influences on Francis Bacon, Influences on Karl Marx, etc. Gjs238 (talk) 12:36, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- Support. Proposed title is WP:CONSISTENT with other "Influences on Foo" articles, removes ambiguity, and looks more encyclopedic than the current title. ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 18:10, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- Support, "Influences on..." is certainly clearer. Chiswick Chap (talk) 19:36, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- Support, this has been bothering me for years (long before the recent move). Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:10, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

Pickwick
[edit]The article says, "Charles Dickens' The Pickwick Papers has likewise been shown to have reflections in Tolkien". Could this be a bit more specific about what this reflections are? Jack Upland (talk) 23:59, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
- Added a brief example. Chiswick Chap (talk) 11:26, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
