Claim
[edit]I couldn't find any source for the claim that Bonomo is returning next year or that the Warrell Corporation is involved. I have removed this paragraph. However, browsing previous revisions I noticed a URL for Bonomo Turkish Taffy, LLC which has since gone offline. I found a previous revision (from 2003) in the Internet Archive claiming the return of Turkish Taffy. I added information about this. I'm happy to discuss my change if anyone wants. Copyright concerns
[edit]It seems the current version of the article was a direct copy of that contained at http://www.bonomoturkishtaffy.com/MuseumHistory_ep_40.html. Due to the dates concerned it is hard to confirm which came first, but the Bonomo Turkish Taffy is the official site and is copyrighted, so I've acted on the assumption that the material was copied from the official site to Wikipedia. I tired accessing the sources used here, but the main one, "Meet Vic Bonomo, the Candy Man of the Year." Candy Industry and Confectioners Journal. 114.13 (1960): 25-38, is difficult to verify. It may be that I'm mistaken, though, but I think given the identical nature of the text, and the manner in which it appeared here in a single edit, it is better to assume a copyright violation. - Bilby (talk) 05:46, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Not invented by Bonomo
[edit]The website for Bonomo Turkish Taffy says Bonomo did not invent Turkish Taffy, rather it was invented in 1912 by Herman Herer.

Other forms of the product
[edit]I recall that Bonomo offered their Turkish Taffy in wrapped rolls similar to the smaller version of the Tootsie Roll (not the Midgees, the next bigger roll which is still produced). The wrapper for the vanilla version was predominantly white with red and blue printing on the wrapper. I will look around for sources to cite this fact. If another editor, with more time, would like to do likewise, feel free. THX1136 (talk) 22:18, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
Missing information
[edit]The first sentence of the History section is as follows:
"Turkish Taffy was invented in 1912 by Austrian immigrant Herman Herer, who sold the rights to M. Schwarz & Sons of Newark, New Jersey,[1][2] which were acquired in 1936 by Victor Bonomo, a Sephardic Jew whose father, Albert J. Bonomo, had emigrated from Izmir, Turkey and founded the Bonomo Company in Coney Island, New York in 1897 to produce saltwater taffy and hard candies."
This breathless sentence tries to cram far too many things into a single sentence. It should probably be rewritten as four sentences.
But also: Was Herman Herer an immigrant to some country? If so, shouldn't the name of that country be mentioned? 2601:200:C000:1A0:7D04:23B6:BA70:3DB5 (talk) 06:46, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
Blue Raspberry & Wild Cherry
[edit]As of the date of this post the above flavors appear to no longer be available according to the manufacturer's website. They were possibly only available for a limited time. Have found no information on their site about this so will not add to the article until I can cite the info. THX1136 (talk) 16:49, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
