"sponsoned" what is this word?[edit]

I am editing this page for the first time, and came across this word, "sponsoned", it appears to be a typo, but maybe it is some obscure nautical word. Can anyone please clarify for me? Iljhgtn (talk) 21:41, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am leaving it intact in one instance for now as in this line. "The two main gun turrets were sponsoned out over the sides of the ship and echeloned to allow both to fire fore and aft." and "These guns were mounted in twin hydraulically powered Mark 3 turrets, the fore turret sponsoned to starboard and the aft turret sponsoned to port." USS Maine Memorial, Nay Aug Park, Scranton, PA[edit]

There is a memorial to the Maine in Nay Aug Park in Scranton, PA (adjacent to the Everheart Museum) with an artillery shell and porthole cover. See photos attached. 107.77.204.224 (talk) 16:01, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Missing designations[edit]

Broken citation[edit]

There a harv citation with content "DANFS Maine (ACR-1).", which generates the big red error message "Harv error: link from CITEREFDANFS_Maine_(ACR-1) doesn't point to any citation." (if you have visibility of those messages turned on). This usually happens when someone deletes material containing the full citation without cleaning up after sortenened footnotes that refer to it, though occassionally it's an error in the original citation. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 22:35, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
