This article is incomplete without an expansion of the stereotypical Appalachian section. Nowhere are pejoratives or other terms of stereotyping mentioned, not just "hillbillies", but their own dialectic "briar-hoppers", it's elided "brawhoppers" (a term I first heard from people who grew up around Pineville, KY)or the derisive "briars", which was widely used in the 1950's-1970s. It's an encyclcopedia, and merits full treatment, not just an academic squeaky clean exposition.--Reedmalloy (talk) 19:28, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Semicolons to separate lists with commas?[edit]

I don't know how to edit this, but I think it should list "Knoxville, TN" as opposed to just "Knoxville" (because it lists Charleston, WV). Also, with too many commas (especially as written now) it's confusing. I recommend separating the city/states with semicolons.

Urban Appalachians are also diverse in terms of the kind of places they lived in before migration. Many came from coal camps in the Cumberland Plateau or Allegheny Mountains. Others came from cities (rural people may moved into them) such as Knoxville; Charleston, West Virginia; the Huntington-Ashland area; or Pittsburgh. Hello! I am planning on making some edits to this article. I wanted to let anyone that may be involved with this article to be aware. I also wanted to let you all know that I would appreciate any suggestions or ideas that anyone may have! The topic of Native Americans in Appalachia was briefly mentioned in this article, it really interests me, and I would like to explore this topic a little more. I am starting the editing in my Sandbox if anyone wants to leave suggestions that would be greatly appreciated!
