Technical details of the v2.0

[edit]

I just bought the v2.0, and I thought I'd add some details. The v2.0 makes 320x240 pixel AVI video files, with MJPEG (Motion JPEG including Huffman Tables) image and ADPCM (Intel DVI-ADPCM 32kbps 8kHz mono) audio, at 10 frames per second, with a variable data rate ranging from appr. 300 to 1000kbps. The still images are 640x480, 1600x1200 or 2048x1536 pixel JPEG files. The larger resolutions are interpolated (I think the sensor is 640x480, but I'm not sure). It has a digital zoom function (x2) but no optical zoom. It has no manual or auto-focus, the focus seems to be fixed around 2 to 5m or so. It has no Flash. It has an USB connector and an A/V output (composite video, PAL/NTSC switchable). It has 32MB of internal memory (which stores appr. 7 minutes of video), expandable up to 1GB with standard SD cards. It runs on 2 AA batteries.

After having used it quite a bit, I can add that the video quality is ok for children, but it's not as good as what you'd get from an entry-level compact photo camera with video function. The still image mode, though useful, suffers from slow reaction speed. I was able to import and edit the video files in Windows Movie Maker 2 without any problems. Overall I'd say it's great fun for kids up to age of 12 or so; teenagers may be disappointed by the results. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.118.60.119 (talk) 03:33, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clear something up.

[edit]

Since I have a few VCamNows that I use, the slot can take a 2 GB SD card and record right onto it, over 12 hours. Pictures go there to. Recording is done at 15 FPS. Coffee5binky (talk) 10:09, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
