Support Merge - The Very Fast Train was a significant proposal generating heated debate in its time. Since then, the wording "very fast train", capitalised or not, has been used to refer to high-speed rail proposals in Australia. A nearly identical proposal has recently been noted as a top priority for the Rudd Government. I believe this should be the primary article for true high-speed rail in Australia, especially since none of the existing "high speed" railways in Australia travel over 160kph. -Yeti Hunter (talk) 15:17, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do Not Support Merge - The remarks above are supported in relation to "very fast train" in the generic sense. However, a comprehensive article is currently being prepared about the specific Australian "Very Fast Train" project (1984-1991) by several people who were managers in the project. The article is expected to be in place during 2010. -SCHolar44 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:39, 31 May 2009 (UTC).[reply]
