Arizona's use of the word wash

I ended up on this article looking for an explanation of the use of named washes in Arizona (while driving south from the Hoover Dam.) I subsequently found this article by Google, and I would like to suggest that they be linked in some way https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Washes_of_Arizona
