Cleanup
[edit]The need for cleanup has been queried: I have tagged it because the English needs overhauling, as it has obviously not been written by a native speaker nad in places is defective in translation, and also requires copyediting for errors, of which there are enough to warrant a cleanup tag in their own right apart from the translation issues. @ HeartofaDog: Which are the errors? I will take care of them. Regards.--Fifat (talk) 06:08, 8 September 2009 (UTC)I will do it myself - it is quicker.HeartofaDog (talk) 09:28, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
I have gone through it now (perhaps I should have used a copyedit tag rather than a cleanup one) - I have not tried to change the meaning anywhere, only to improve the English. I'm not sure whether or not the Alstertal Museum also needs a separate article - if not the redlink can come out again. Wellingsbüttel the village / district needs its own stub, mE, as that is quite an odd gap. I wanted to ask you about this: "thus saving the lord of the manor to pay the livelihood of the redundant" - does it mean that having made them unemployed he dd not need to pay for their support, or that he didn't need them and didn't have to pay their wages any more because they didn't work for him? - @ HeartofaDog: Thank you very much for your kind support and for improving the article. (a) Alstertal Museum is a quite small, all over local museum which is coverd with its own article in the German WP. I'm not shure whether it is imortant enough to be reported in the English WP. (b) Within the next days I will add a stub for the Wellingsbüttel district in the city of Hamburg. (c) Originally there was only Wellingsbüttel Manor. The Lord of Wellingsbüttel had to take care of all inhabitants. When times became worse and agriculture was no longer adaequately adding to the lifestyle of the Lords the Danish king split in favor of his relative the duke the manor into a manor with a few necessary inhabitants and a small village with not very much land but much more inhabitants. From that on the king was responsible for the village and the support of the suffering population while the lord took care of the people left on the manor.--Fifat (talk) 17:22, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
The de-Wiki article on the museum is in fact so small that it seemed easiest just to add the whole thing here as an extra para. (Is it in the left or right wing? - the article says the right). A stub on the village/locality wd be v useful, when you get the time. I've redone the sentence I asked you about - let me know if it is not accurate. After spending some time with this article I think it wd help it if the distinction between the manor as an estate and the manor house were a bit clearer, and I will take a look at that next. Best wishes, HeartofaDog (talk) 09:08, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- I started the small stub of Wellingsbüttel quarter, feel free to expand. Sebastian scha. (talk) 11:13, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- Where is the museum? It depends on the perspective - On this photo here, showing the gatehouse seen from the "inside", the former yard, it is in the right wing.--Fifat (talk) 08:02, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- Manor house vs manor as an estate: In de-wiki the article is the "Manor house" ("Herrenhaus") because this is still existing while the estate has gone and is now the quarter Hamburg-Wellinigsbüttel. The original REDIRECT von "Gut Wellingsbüttel" (estate) has been deleted and the Lemma has been used for a second manor Wellingsbüttel south of Hamburg, which had no manor house - see de:Wellingsbüttel. The latter not beeing relevant for en-wiki. Best wishes--Fifat (talk) 08:11, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- citizens' organisation: Der "Bürgerverein Wellingsbüttel e.V." = "citizens' organisation Wellingsbüttel, registered association" website has taken the responsibility to maitain the gatehouse and is using the hall in the upper floor for cultural events and is leasing it for marriages.--Fifat (talk) 08:23, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
