Separate version with different backing vocals[edit]

Is there a completely separate version of this song that has backing vocals during the main stanzas (not the chorus) which are specifically sung in a bright major key as a sort of counterpoint? I heard this several times on a Jack FM UK station but I remember that the US radio version vocals aren't as dissonant and use the original song keys. Where Have all the Cowboys Gone vs. Fast Car[edit]

I'm curious about whether the similarities between this song and Tracy Chapman's Fast Car have ever been officially written/spoken about. They basically tell the same story--young woman marries a guy with a nice car, with hopes and dreams about the future, only to get disillusioned as he fails to live up to her expectations and instead spends his time getting drunk at the bar. 71.231.130.9 (talk) 23:28, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
