Will of the People → Will of the People (disambiguation) – The primary topic of this article is general will, so it should be changed into a redirect to there. PhotographyEdits (talk) 17:15, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose. "Will of the people" is a general term that may be applied to any result of an election that was conducted under conditions that were reasonably free from pressure. No need for this term to become a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT since anyone who is researching Rousseau's concept of general will and, instead of typing the term directly, types "will of the people" will find the link to "general will" as the first entry upon the Will of the People [uppercase "P"] disambiguation page. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 03:40, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- See also WP:BROAD. The WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for this phrase is the topic that was popularized by Rousseau and not to any other articles this article disambiguates, which are quite obscure in comparison. PhotographyEdits (talk) 08:57, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- Rousseau lived before the time of widespread democratic governance. I tend to agree that "will of the people" today is more likely to refer specifically to election returns. BD2412 T 18:31, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
- Strong oppose the album has more views (11,660) than General will (2,584)[[1]] and the views for General will also count it being called that as opposed to "Will of the People". Google also appears to only returns the album. There may be a case for Will of the people (lower case) though but per WP:DIFFCAPS not the upper case. - Comment I had initially not realized the caps differences. Could we change this proposal into about moving only Will of the people? I'm fine with abandoning the proposal to move Will of the People. PhotographyEdits (talk) 10:47, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
