Deletion 18 Feb. 2023

[edit]

Hi @User:Melcous, you deleted the following entries from the "Notable students" section of this article on 18 February 2023.

The above deletions were done in one shot with the edit summary "no evidence of notability", and I would appreciate your explanation on the criteria and reasonings you used in coming up with that opinion.

Leaving Gérard Camili, François Chauche and Renaud Malinconi aside for simplicity of discussion for now, my opinion (as an experienced racing driver) is that they are notable by the fact they graduated top of the class from the racing school that produced unprecedented number/ratio of Formula One drivers, thus proving they were among the top racing drivers at the time. This would not hold true if we are talking about an ordinary sportscar racing school found at local racing circuits.

I am assuming goodwill here, and hoping to have a productive discussion. (If you are against Wikipedia:Inclusionism and intend to go into philosophical debate using this article just as an example to prove your point, I am not interested in participating.) Yiba the entries had neither a wikilink nor a source, which means there was no evidence of notability provided. I'm not making any comment or whether any of these people are actually notable or not, just that as the article stood, no such notability was evidenced in any way, and therefore they should not be included unless it can be. I don't understand. All of them had links to sources. Are you saying a wikilink or a source is evidence of notability? Yiba (talk | contribs) 08:27, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
