Doubt

[edit]

There is some doubt as to whether Winter's law operated before or after the vowel shift /o/ to /a/. See the talk page of the article on Balto-Slavic.

Accent

[edit]

Does Winter's law attract the accent from wherever it is in the word? The wording in the first paragraph seems to suggest so, but "rising accent" is not a thing yet in Balto-Slavic, accent and acute are still independent things and not all acute syllables have to be accented. Could someone who knows more about this and/or has sources clarify this point? Rua (mew) 14:27, 3 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
