Move to Yoo Ji-tae

[edit]

I've moved this article to Yoo Ji-tae since I believe it is the more common spelling. Yoo Ji-tae gets 108,000 hits on Google, as opposed to 37,600 for Yu Ji-tae. PC78 15:45, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm moving it back as the correct romanization is "Yu Ji-tae" (Davedim 02:58, 2 April 2007 (UTC))[reply]

I've moved it back again for the reasons stated above - this is consistant with Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean) (established English spelling) and WP:COMMONNAME. Yoo Ji-tae gets far more Google hits, and is also the spelling used by Korean film sites such as HanCinema and Koreanfilm.org. If you still dispute this move, can you please discuss it further or take it to WP:RM? Regards, PC78 11:48, 2 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]
Please take note of the rules of romanization in Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean). It clearly states that the Revised Romanization should be used. The correct romanization of ㅠ is "yu" regardless of what a few other sites may use. I could list IMDB, Hollywood.com, The New York Times, Asian Database and StarPulse as examples of sites that use the correct romanization. The rules are clearly stated and so I can see no reason for this article to have been moved. I will move it back to the correct page. I hope that you will accept this as final. Please read the naming convention you cite, which quite clearly says "If there is no nameholder preference and no established English spelling, then Revised Romanization should be used". In this case the established spelling seems quite clear, so I shall move the article back. 70,000 or so google hits in favour of Yoo Ji-tae is hardly "a few other sites". I don't know why you're having such a hard time with this. PC78 01:29, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
