Correct name
[edit]This page was previously at Yucca torreyi. Both the World Checklist of Selected Plant Families and Tropicos agree that this is not an "accepted name". However, they give different alternatives: WCSP uses Y. faxoniana, whereas Tropicos, following the Flora of North America, uses Y. treculeana Carrière. More information is needed! I used the WCSP name because this was the source of the list of species at Yucca and it keeps the names consistent. Peter coxhead (talk) 09:31, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- I notice that both WCSP and Tropicos list the Flora of North America North of Mexico 2002 as a source for their respective claims; so if anyone has access to the most recent version they could quickly determine the more reliable of these two. However I noticed one of GRIN's references, Hochstätter, F. & G. Hentzschel 2002 seems, from this link (only snippet view available), to probably go into great detail about exactly the reasons you are looking for. Since it seems to be the only modern source to do so in great detail, and it seems to be widely referenced by other authors (important for Wikipedia), perhaps we might treat it as a final authority, if anyone has full access to these volumes (I don't). --Tom Hulse (talk) 11:10, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
