Repairing/Replacing Broken Links[edit]

Some proposed changes[edit]

Hello Wikipedia community. My name is Mara Nasui and I am interning at Zebra Technologies (please see my User page declaration). I have been asked on behalf of the company to help bring this article up to Wikipedia’s current standards, including improving its content to meet NPOV and citation guidelines. Rather than directly editing the Zebra Technologies page ourselves, we would prefer to aid the Wikipedia editing community by serving as a positive, informational resource. We are more than happy to provide as much factual, non-advertorial information as possible to the community editors. We are also willing to provide third-party references and citations as needed. Many of the links used within the Zebra Technologies ‘References’ section turned into broken links. Some links have saved archives before the link became invalid from the Wayback Machine, others do not. It could improve the quality of information on the page to update and replace broken links with sources that work more reliably.

Here are the broken links without archives to be replaced: • http://news.medill.northwestern.edu/chicago/news.aspx?id=170823http://www.selfserviceworld.com/news/zebra-technologies-buys-swecoin-2/http://articles.chicagotribune.com/keyword/zebra/featured/5

Here are the broken links that have saved archives to be replaced with:

• Bloomberg: https://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=apFnsV9IOZR4

Please let me know what you think about this proposal and do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns. We are willing to find replacement third-party sources for the broken links rather than archives if it would assist the editing community. Thank you very much!

check Partially implemented
  1. Green tickY Four of the references listed in your proposal ("broken links that have saved archives to be replaced with") have been placed into the article.
  2. Red XN Three of the references were not replaced ("The broken links without archives to be replaced"), as these weren't given sufficient identification in order for the reviewer to locate that which they were meant to replace. The references in the article, for unknown reasons, only contain titles. While a portion of the edit request did identify certain references by using these titles, others did not. In order for the references to be replaced, please identify the source in the article which is to be replaced (including its location within the article). @Spintendo:

Thank you for your quick response and edits. The links without archives to be replaced are number 4 titled Medill Reports: http://newsarchive.medill.northwestern.edu/chicago/news.aspx?id=170823 in the references, number 5 titled Chicago Tribute: Manufacturing http://articles.chicagotribune.com/keyword/zebra/featured/5, and number 11 titled Self Service World: http://www.selfserviceworld.com/news/zebra-technologies-buys-swecoin-2/.
The information referenced in Medill Reports stated "Zebra-brand printers are used by more than 90 percent of Fortune 500 companies." This quote no longer holds true, meaning this source could not be replaced by a reliable third-party source. Could this be omitted from the page?
For reference number 5 in Chicago Tribune: Manufacturing, the quote is "Since 2008, Zebra has outsourced the majority of its printer manufacturing to Jabil Circuit in Guangzhou, China." To keep this information but use a new source to prove it, I suggest replacing it with link: https://jetairways.globallinker.com/network/company-profile/zebra-technologies/38533 which also contains the same quote under the description section.
For reference number 11, Self Service World, the article contained information on Zebra Technologies acquiring Swecoin. To prove the acqusition occurred, here are two potential links to reference and keep this information intact within the article:
link: https://mergr.com/zebra-technologies-acquires-swecoin-ab
link: https://www.crunchbase.com/acquisition/zebra-technologies-acquires-swecoin-ab--ad7d5c2e#section-locked-charts
Please let me know if I provided enough adequate information and sources to replace the three links without archives.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Mara Nasui (talkcontribs) 20:26, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There are no more deadlinks in the references. I went ahead and highlighted the article's remaining reference issue with a maintenance template applied to it. The article needs to have its reference metadata enhanced by using one particular citation style. As it now stands, only bare links along with titles are used, and these do not convey an appropriate amount of information (metadata) to the reader. The template, which was placed at the top of the article's page, gives links on how to improve these reference issues. Let me know if you have any questions. Please also remember to sign all talk page posts by placing 4 tildes (~~~~). Thank you!  spintendo  17:10, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Corrections Needed to Outdated Facts: Financial/Operating Info[edit]

Wikipedia community – My name is Sara Zavala and I am a contractor for Zebra Technologies. I was reviewing the company’s Wikipedia page recently in hopes of sharing it with some of our industry audiences and noticed that several of the facts are outdated, including the financial info in the sidebar. There are also several facts missing related to recent acquisitions, the product portfolio, company size and global reach.

As such, I would like to request community assistance with bringing this page up to date, starting with the financial information. Below are the fields that I propose we address first, along with the correct facts and third-party sources for citation. Once these corrections are made, I can detail the other inaccuracies and missing information for community review and update. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and thank you for your help with this.
