it should not be listed under polish personages. he is not recognized as a pole but as a jew as he very well should be.

The above comment makes no sense. Obviously one can be both jewish and polish. Epeefleche 05:39, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah - and born there as a... Russian. :-)
"was a Polish-born circus performer" Imho an error, the first 25(!) years of his live he was a Russian (citizen).

Neutrality[edit]

The content of the article is riddled with opinions by the author about the character of the subject and his impact. Additionally, the link to the referenced source is broken. Edit out the personal sentiments and leave the facts?

Agreed. Made a minor attempt at a first step. Epeefleche 05:39, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why Zishe?[edit]

His name is Siegmund Breitbart, he has sold postcards as Siegmund Breitbart and he is buried as Siegmund Breitbart - and his family names him "Zisha". wp.pl and wp.es have copied the lemma Zishe Breitbart too. Why? Is the reason the fiction film "The Invincible"? 78.51.9.93 (talk) 14:45, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the reason he is called Zishe is because, that WAS his name. He was a Polish Jew that came to America. He either decided that it was better, at that time, not to have it immediately known by his name that he was Jewish, or it became "Americanized" when he arrived here.

My Maternal Grandmother was his cousin, I, his 2nd cousin once removed(?)...I'm a relative. Funny thing, he died on October 12th, I was born on the 13th.

You should see the pics I have!

Board thickness[edit]

The translation of 1 inch to 25 millimeters is suspect. Boards are referred to by nominal dimensions that are usually substantially greater than the actual dimensions. Furthermore, the standards that relate nominal and actual dimensions are a relatively recent development, making it difficult to say what the thickness of the 1-inch boards in question really was, unless some specific reference can be found for it.
