Fourth Fitna

  • Excellent if densely-written article. Probably could use more paragraph breaks and some "dumbing down" here and there to not appear so daunting to casual readers. There are a lot of interpretative statements ("unexpected", "unusual", "intended", "believed", "resented"), although most seem to be correctly sourced or plausible in the context and certainly helpful and compelling to the narrative (which, let me repeat, is of excellent quality, and although heavily reliant on a few sources, no plagiarism is apparent). Images are kosher, although the first map is perhaps not the most suitable as it covers several centuries of phases rather than governing districts of this particular time, and should probably be susbtituted when a better map is found. Only quibble is that as al-Ma'mum and al-Amin are caliphal titles not personal names, the prefix "al-" should probably be maintained consistently through the article and not dropped intermittently. It meets DYK criteria on novelty, length, neutrality, citations and is apparently free of plagiarism. Images are free of probems. The hook is fine, if a little on the dull side, but I can't think up a better one. Walrasiad (talk) 22:02, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
