George Derby (baseball)

[edit]

5x expanded by Cbl62 (talk). Self nominated at 03:42, 7 June 2014 (UTC).

  • Hook is cited in various parts of the article, but hook is not presented in a single sentence in the article, which means it technically is not cited appropriately ... rest of the article looks good, Cbl62. Go Phightins! 22:13, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Expanded 2 June, nominated 7 June, therefore new enough; also long enough. QPQ done. The three elements of the hook are each separately but clearly referenced to online citation #1 within the text. I do not understand baseball (I am British, haha) but I accept Phightins! review above that the hook is confirmed by citation. Image in article is free. No problems with disambig links. Access to online citations #1 and #2 OK. Citation links #3 and #5 lead to paywalls, but this is permissible for DYK. External links checked for sources of copyvio or close paraphrasing; none found. The text is written in an objective manner and neutral style, and is well-cited - although I would like to see a citation in the career statistics section. Good to go. --Storye book (talk) 15:37, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Per DYK rules, the paragraph under Career statistics needs at least one cite. Yoninah (talk) 21:21, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
  • @ Cbl62. Sorry we have another delay. Please add a citation to the paragraph under Career statistics. Thank you. --Storye book (talk) 15:03, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
  • I just added a citation to the paragraph under Career statistics. Thank you. --PFHLai (talk) 00:23, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Sorry but I couldn't verifiy the hook from the supplied source, namely that he led the league in strikeouts in his first season, if somebody can get back to me on this quickly I can leave the nom in prep otherwise it will have to be pulled. Gatoclass (talk) 14:17, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
Fourth box down under the "Appearances on Leader Boards, Awards, and Honors" heading in the first reference. (Not sure the hook has been improved in prep by being rearranged to have "pitcher...pitched" in quick succession) Belle (talk) 14:26, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
I can never understand baseball statistics, is it the line that says "1881 NL (1st)"? Gatoclass (talk) 14:36, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
Yes. (says the UK's Baseball Stats Queen) Belle (talk) 14:40, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response :) Gatoclass (talk) 14:43, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
