Glyptothorax kurdistanicus

[edit]
  • ... that the Iran cat can adhere to rocks in streams?
  • Reviewed: Brown quail
  • Comment: Lots of boring alternative hooks possible, but this (admittedly fairly obscure) common name makes for better clickbait.

5x expanded by Squeamish Ossifrage (talk). Self-nominated at 15:56, 7 August 2015 (UTC).

  • Size (text only): 2772 characters (437 words) of readable prose. Created by Thomas.W on September 16, 2014. 5x expansion from 241 characters (35 words) by Squeamish Ossifrage began August 7, 2015. Both hook and bodytext supported by inline citations from reliable third-party sources without duplication. Love the hook. Good to go. Poeticbent talk 00:39, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
  • I have returned this from prep as I was unable to verify either hook fact from the supplied source. Gatoclass (talk) 16:33, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
  • @Gatoclass: I am not certain why you were unable to verify the hook claims against their cited source. The use of "Iran cat" as a common name for Glyptothorax kurdistanicus can be found at the bottom of the right-hand column of p.242 of the cited Iranian Journal of Ichthyology article. The adhesion behavior of members of the genus can be found in the left-hand column of p.241 (with specific discussion of the adhesive apparatus in G. kurdistanicus on p.243. At least from my location, the linked page provides the full PDF of that article. Squeamish Ossifrage (talk) 16:55, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Yes, I just checked the pdf and both facts are there. Still good to go (or good to go again, depending on your point of view) Belle (talk) 17:05, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
[Edit conflict] I didn't say it wasn't there Squeamish Ossifrage, only that I couldn't find it ;) Okay - verified now. I missed the "Iran cat" because a search for the phrase failed due to a double space between the two words in the source, the other fact I missed because it is in the "Family Sisoridae" section and I started my search at "Genus Glyptothorax". I would probably have found these normally but after struggling through several difficult verifications in the set, I was getting pretty tired by the time I arrived at yours. I will promote this one again now, thank you for the quick response. Gatoclass (talk) 17:10, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
