I'd change to ... that the government was unaware that John Barr (pictured) had been in the country for only five years when they appointed him to the New Zealand Legislative Council? Otherwise everything works. ~EDDY ^{(talk/contribs)}~ 04:11, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the review. I've turned your suggestion into ALT1, but have added his occupation to the hook, as being appointed to the NZ Legislative Council after such a short time in the country was unusual, and it was still unusual (at that time) for workers to be appointed, especially if they didn't have parliamentary experience. So taken those two facts together makes this even more unusual. Schwede 66 18:20, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
