Melipona beecheii

[edit]
  • ... that Melipona beecheii were considered by the Mayan Indians to be an endowment of their god Ah-Muzen-Cab and were the focus of many Mayan religious ceremonies?

Created and expanded by Mebennett49 (talk). Self-nominated at 00:29, 30 September 2015 (UTC).

  • Article: New – The article was created nine days before the nomination on Sept 30. Between Sept 23 and Sept 30 it was expanded fourfold.
  • Article: Long enough – The article is 16,000 bytes.
  • Article: Within policy – The article is written neutrally. It cites 14 sources, some sentence-by-sentence and some at the end of paragraphs. The sources are all offline, except one; that one is in Spanish, a language I do not read. So we will have to take on faith that there are no close paraphrasing issues, copyright violations or plagiarism.
  • Hook: Format – The hook is 147 characters and formatted like the others.
  • Hook: Content - The hook is interesting. It is neutral and does not affect a living person. The hook fact is in the article, but not cited with a citation at the end of the sentence.
  • Other: QPQ – The nominator has no other DYK credits so this is not required.

Conclusion: @Mebennett49:, please add a citation to the end of the hook sentence in the article. When that is done, this would be ready to go, assuming the editors here don't mind the slightly longer time period to nomination. By the way, would you consider changing "endowment of" to "gift from" to make the hook read more smoothly? Finally, congratulations on a great article, your hard work shows. 184.147.131.85 (talk) 15:50, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

Unfortunately, it looks like this article was created on September 21, which is more than seven says prior to the September 30 nomination. Per DYK Rule 1(a), For DYK purposes, a "new" article is no more than seven days old, and may not consist of text spun off from a pre-existing article." However, this article could be eligible again if it is improved to GA status (see rule 1(g)). Best, -- Notecardforfree (talk) 17:43, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
  • Although it was created on September 21, DYKcheck reports that it was five times expanded starting on September 24. As a five times expansion, it was nominated on time. Mebennett49 should add the requested citation, and then this can proceed. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 19:21, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
Mandarax, it looks like you are right and I was wrong. My apologies for causing any confusion. I have struck my earlier inaccurate comment. Thanks, -- Notecardforfree (talk) 19:51, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
Hi there, I believe I added the necessary citation to the article. Thanks so much for the guidance, advice, and feedback! Mebennett49 (talk) 16:02, 16 October 2015 (UTC)Mebennett49
Thanks! Assuming good faith on the citation (since the source is paywalled and I'm not able to read it), this is now good to go. 184.147.131.85 (talk) 16:20, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
