Vince Banonis[edit]

Vince Banonis, All-American football center

5x expanded by Cbl62 (talk). Self nominated at 15:53, 10 September 2014 (UTC).

  • Expanded 5x and DYK nominated within seven days of the expansion. Every paragraph has at least one inline citation. Checks for copyvio reveals no problems. The image is fine, as a public domain image from the United States Library of Congress's Prints and Photographs division.
Problems are that the second part of the hook is not cited by a reliable source in the article, and it also appears to be incorrect. The article states that Banonis was All-NFL while playing for teams other than the Detroit Lions, stating "with the Cardinals". The first part of the hook, Banonis being an All-American center for the University of Detroit is verified by a reliable source in the article. So, the second part of the hook needs to 1) be verified in the article by a reliable source and 2) corrected, because it doesn't appear that Banonis was All-NFL when he was with the Detroit Lions (per the given dates in the article relative to the teams he played with during those years, as denoted in the infobox of the article). @Northamerica1000: Good catch. My mistake. He was All-NFL with the Cards. The following alt should remedy the issue. Cbl62 (talk) 03:35, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
  • ALT1: ... that College Football Hall of Fame inductee Vince Banonis (pictured) was an All-American center for the University of Detroit and All-NFL for the Chicago Cardinals? Cbl62 (talk) 03:35, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Good to go with ALT1. A source has been added to the article verifying content for the latter part of ALT1, from pro-football-reference.com. This appears to be an acceptable source in terms of reliability, as it is culminated by "...24-7 Baseball, creators of the ESPN Pro Football Encyclopedia", per the bottom of the webpage. Furthermore, I have copy edited this content in the article to clarify content per the source. NorthAmerica1000 04:30, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
