... that Leeds industrialist William Gott(pictured) was charged with nuisance when his factory's steam engine produced "noisome and unwholesome smokes and vapours"? Leeds Intelligencer 8 April 1824, p.3 col.1 "The King against Benjamin Gott and others for a nuisance ... the defendants were Benjamin Gott, John Gott and William Gott ... they did set up a certain engine, worked by steam ... whereby noisome and unwholesome smokes and vapours were emitted ... @ Admin: Please would you kindly delay promotion of this nom until I can get an image of William Gott? I am hoping to get an appointment to photograph a marble bust of Gott which is hidden away in an archive, but I must wait until the archivist becomes available after his holiday. Thank you. As far as I am aware, there is no other image of Wm Gott available to the public. Storye book (talk) 18:56, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, MeegsC, for kindly delaying this nom for a picture slot. I now have an appointment to photograph the marble bust of William Gott on Friday. The archivist is bringing a technician in, to place the bust where I can photograph it, because it is currently lying down in the archive, and too heavy to lift manually. They are pulling out all the stops for me! This is the only portrait of Gott that I can find. Please give me an extra couple of days after Friday to edit the photos.Storye book (talk) 10:15, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
I have now started editing and uploading my photos of the William Gott portrait bust. Here is a picture of William Gott, as a detail from the bust. Storye book (talk) 10:21, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
@ Epicgenius Hmmm. Please forgive me ... having spent some hours with Gott's beautiful marble bust and photos of it, and having noted how it looks like a Roman god if you see it from below - it has struck me that he needs a better press. Storye book (talk) 14:51, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
@Storye book: ALT2 is technically good to go and the image checks out. However, I personally found ALT0 very interesting (and to a lesser extent ALT1 as well), and I'd recommend ALT0 over the other two hooks. All three are fine, to reiterate, and ALT2 could work all right; it's just that ALT0 stood out to me. Epicgenius (talk) 18:26, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for the review, and for your patience! Yes, ALT 0 is fine by me. Mister Gott will just have to keep trying to look innocent. ;-) Storye book (talk) 20:31, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
