YKML

[edit]

@Useddenim, Nfitz, and Secondarywaltz: YKML does not work in {{GO Transit code}}. TheTrolleyPole (talk) 16:37, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The code YKML no longer works on the GO Transit site and thus no longer within the template. The code for York Mills Bus Terminal now appears to be 00011.

  • {{GO Transit code|YKML}} fails: GO Transit: YKML
  • {{GO Transit code|00011}} works: GO Transit: 00011

Thus, could an if-statement be coded in the template to switch codes? Or should we change all articles that use the code? I changed York Mills Bus Terminal#External links to use 00011 but that might not be the best way. TheTrolleyPole (talk) 16:37, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Metrolinx changed ALL the 4-letter codes back in 2018. Any pages that haven't been fixed yet to the new codes should be. I think most of the train stations were ... but I've never checked properly, or even thought about bus terminals, as few have pages. Nfitz (talk) 19:31, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Browsing the list of GO bus depots in GO Transit bus services#Terminals, stations and carpool/park and ride lots, it seems all have 4-character, aphabetic codes, and spotchecking a few shows many fail. I only found one alpha code that works (there may be others), and it was USBT Union Station Bus Terminal. According to your answer, it appears we should convert all the failing alpha codes to their 5-digit equivalent, a big job. Is there a list of new codes? Or do we look up each bus depot on the GO site to find the secret code? Your mod to the York Mills Bus Terminal article indicates that we should also show the new numeric code in the infobox for each bus depot instead of the alpha code. Thanks. Yeah ... manually. The train stations with 2-letter codes were at least a bit more obvious. I've never really looked for bus stations before. I'm not even sure a couple of those should have articles ... like Ajax Plaza Bus Terminal. Nfitz (talk) 13:43, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
