On use of singular they
In case a question comes up on the wording in this template, per Wikipedia:Gender-neutral language, "There is no Wikipedia consensus either for or against the singular they". This is an essay, but there is nothing in the Manual of Style at MOS:GENDERID to prohibit the use of singular they either. A recent RfC created to prohibit the use of singular they (in favor of using no pronouns at all) failed to gain consensus. Funcrunch (talk) 14:04, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
On using context
As I mentioned when drafting this template, I am not entirely happy with the wording of "Use context to determine which name or names to provide on a case-by-case basis", but I included this to mirror the existing MOS-TW and MOS-TM templates. I would prefer that all three templates be reworded to clarify that the "context" line (which comes from MOS:GENDERID) refers only to when the subject is mentioned in articles outside of the main biographical article. For a bio, the subject should always be referred to with the currently preferred name and pronouns. Funcrunch (talk) 14:08, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
