{{editprotect}} All the templates listed on the template page need to updated to offer relevant alt text for the visually impaired, thanks Gnevin (talk) 21:48, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

How will this interact with the non-displaying "Y" or "N" included when these templates are transcluded? This template is transcluded a few thousand times, and I would hate to do that to the poor servers if this is a non-issue. - 2/0 (cont.) 05:16, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
What are these non-displaying Ys and Ns actually for? I've deactivated this request for now, as it seems some discussion is warranted here. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:08, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
The non-displaying Y and N are so they sort correctly and adding alt text doesn't change the functionality. See User:Gnevin/sandbox7 Gnevin (talk) 13:53, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Done for Template:Tick and Template:Cross, as they have no text; is this also needed for the other templates? There are quite a few... James F. (talk) 16:16, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
... and now also to Template:Check mark, Template:Y, Template:Aye, Template:Check mark-n, and Template:U2713; and Template:X mark big, Template:N, Template:Nay, Template:X mark-n, and Template:X mark. Of course I couldn't add alt-text to glyphs, only to images, so a couple weren't appropriate. James F. (talk) 16:24, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, the glyphs may need to be AFD'd Gnevin (talk) 16:42, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Sorry to be a pain but these should also include link= . So they don't link anywhere. Thanks Gnevin (talk) 19:00, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Mostly done, but some of the crosses are GFDL/CC-3.0 images so I have skipped those due to attribution problems. I'm uncertain what the current status of that problem is. —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 01:15, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Request edit[edit]

Request edit to alt text to match graphic "Green tick" instead of current "yes". Reason: this is used for things other than the word yes i.e. "support", "approved", "reliable", "solved", etc. ~ R.T.G 00:59, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Used in hundreds of articles[edit]

The documentation says "It is not for use in articles." but the tick is used in hundreds of articles, particularly via other templates such as {{Rugbybox}} and {{Chembox}} and etc.

Either the documentation needs updating (easy), or an entirely new "tick template for use in articles" needs to be created and propagated (hard). I'm not sure why the latter would be needed, but I'm sleepy, so...? –Quiddity (talk) 07:04, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Agreed. I'm going through an article where the image has been included manually. It's a mess and a template would make things much nicer, especially around accessibility. Techtoucian (talk) 14:08, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
