The Metropolitan Zone of Timișoara is an undergoing project for the creation of an administrative unit to integrate Timișoara with the nearby communes: Dumbrăviţa, Ghiroda, Moșnița Nouă, Moșnița Veche, Giroc, Chișoda, Sânmihaiu Român, Săcălaz, Sânandrei, Giarmata, Orțișoara, Remetea Mare, Șag, Bechicherecu Mic, Dudeștii Noi and Parța.
