It is unclear what is meant by "defining an algebra via the relations in the algebra". The linked Birkhoff's theorem is unrelated to this issue. The part with the Galois connection between algebraic and relational structures is also confusing. Birkhoff's HSP theorem characterizes the Galois closed sets of the satisfaction relation, but this is a completely different Galois connection, so it is unclear what is meant here. undo
