Caribou High School is a public high school in Caribou, Maine, United States. It serves students in grades 9-12 from Caribou, Connor Township, Stockholm, and Woodland. The school's Future Farmers of America chapter is one of the oldest chapters in the state, and one of the school's first clubs.[citation needed]

First Schoolhouse (1857-1874)[edit]
The first schoolhouse in Caribou (at the time known as "Lyndon") was built in 1857 on Sincock Street at a cost of only $375 (approximately $12,300 in 2024).[5] It operated for only three months a year (during the winter),[5] and students often worked in the local crop fields in the off-season.[citation needed]
Second Schoolhouse (1874-1886) and First High School (1886-1891)[edit]
Following the Civil War, the population in Caribou rose dramatically, necessitating a larger schoolhouse, which was built in 1874 at the same location as the first schoolhouse.[5] This school eventually moved to Herschel Street and was demolished in the late-20th century.[5]
In 1886, a separate secondary education school opened in the former building of a retail store, becoming the town's first high school.[5]
Second and Third High Schools (1891-1909; 1909-1927)[edit]
In 1891, a large three-story building was constructed to house the town's high school. Located on High Street, it operated for almost two decades before it was replaced by a larger school elsewhere.[5]
The larger and newer high school, located on Glenn Street, burned down a few months before it was expected to open in 1909. It was quickly rebuilt with brick, a more flame-resistant material than wood, yet suffered another fire in 1923.[5] It operated for at the same location for only four more years.
