Overview
[edit]Antoine Blondeau (born in 1969) is an investor and technology entrepreneur.[1] He is a specialist in the field of Artificiall Intelligence (AI).[2]
In 2017, he became the Managing Partner of Alpha Intelligence Capital (AIC), a global venture capital fund that invests solely into deep tech/deep algorithmic science-based AI companies globally, which he co-founded with Charles-Edouard Bouée.
He is known for co-founding Sentient Technologies in 2007 and serving as its CEO until 2016. He then acted as the company's Non-Executive Chairman between 2017 and 2019.[3]
Antoine Blondeau is also the author or co-author of four registered patents.[4][5][6][7]

Blondeau holds an MBA from ESCP Business School in Paris and followed this with a one-year program at Chuo University in Tokyo.
Career
1990-1994 Antoine Blondeau started his professional career at the French Délégation interministérielle à l'aménagement du territoire et à l'attractivité régionale (DATAR) (English: Interministerial Delegation of Land Planning and Regional Attractiveness), a government organization in charge of attracting foreign investments in France. He served as Director for Asia and successfully attracted Japanese and Asian industrial investments, earning France 5,000 jobs in four years. The focus sectors included electronics, telecom and information technology, resulting in investments by NEC, Hitachi, Mitsubishi Electric, Sony, Canon and Sega. He also established and managed the Taiwan and Hong Kong offices.[8]
1994-2000 He held a senior leadership position at Nortel Networks as Director of Asia/Pacific and OEM until 1998. Then, until 2000, Blondeau became the Chief Operating Officer at Zi Corporation.[9]
2001-2007 Blondeau led Dejima Inc. as CEO and President, a company founded by Babak Hodjat that powered the Defence Advanced Research Project Agency's (DARPA) foundational Cognitive Assistant that Learns and Organizes (CALO) project that later evolved into Apple's Siri.[10] In April 2004, Dejima was acquired by Sybase iAnywhere and served as Senior Director Business Development, integrating the Dejima operations into Sybase.[11][12]
Between 2004-2005, Blondeau served as Vice President and General manager in the Wireless Products Division at Salesforce.com. He followed this as the Senior Vice President for Worldwide Business Development and General Manager for Asia/Pacific at Good Technology until 2007.[13]
2007-2019
In 2007, Blondeau joined Babak Hodjat and Adam Cheyer to establish Genetic Finance Holding Ltd., which he led as CEO until 2016.[14] In 2014, Genetic Finance Holding Ltd. changed its name to become Sentient Technologies which became a leading advanced AI platform company in the US.[15] Blondeau acted as the Non-Executive Chairman between 2017-2019.
While Blondeau was there, the Sentient team worked on developing widely distributed computing technology as well as improving machine-learning techniques known as evolutionary algorithms. One area that gained particular attention from the media was the application of Sentient Technologies' algorithms to stock market trading.[16]
2017-2023
Since 2017, Blondeau has been the Managing Partner of Alpha Intelligence Capital (AIC), one of the first global venture capital funds investing in deep tech/deep algorithmic science-based AI companies. AIC is solely dedicated to investing in companies developing advanced Aritifical Intelligence technologies applied to solve various business problems. Under Blondeau's management, AIC was ranked as the 5th Tope Global Investor in AI companies, alongside top-tier investors such as B Capital Group, Temasek, Sequoia Capital, and Salesforce Ventures.[17]
AIC's first fund ('AIC Fund I') raised $185 million and has invested in 29 companies in the US, Europe, Israel, and Asia. In September 2022, AIC launched its second fund ('AIC Fund II'), raising an initial $100 million that it plans to invest into up to 30 AI-focused companies around the world.[18]
Other Activities
[edit]Blondeau is a contributor to C-level executives on a broad range of organisational and business areas, including: technology and innovation, strategy development, financing, governance, and culture development.
Blondeau is serving or has previously served on boards and advisory boards in the US, Asia/Pacific, and Europe. He is currently an Advisor to Pictet & Cie[19], Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR & Co.), and BITKRAFT Ventures[20]. He is also the Chairman of Singapore-based Crypto.com[21].
He regularly speaks at conferences, including Web Summit, Global AI Summit, Collision, RISE, CogX, DLD, DW, AI for Good, Cyber Week, AIxAI, Founders Forum, and the United Nations.
Patents
Antoine Blondeau is the author or co-author of four patents in the fields of input/output arrangements for oriental characters, learning methods using evolutionary programming (e.g., genetic algorithms), distrubuted evolutionary algorithms for asset management and trading and methods for performing computer tasks, and network computer systems.
