Aghori Mhori Me is the upcoming thirteenth studio album by American rock band the Smashing Pumpkins. The Album is set to be released digitally on August 2, 2024 through Martha's Music. Physical editions of the album will released at a later date.[1] Produced by Billy Corgan it the the bands first record since 2012's Oceania not to feature long-time guitarist Jeff Schroeder, after his departure from the band in 2023.[3]

In an interview with Kerrang Radio frontman Billy Corgan called the album a "straight up rock and roll guitar record" and stated that "it very much sounds like the ‘Siamese Dream’ / ‘Mellon Collie’ version of the band for this record", comparing the project to the sound of their seminal early work.[2]

Background and development

[edit]

The band started recording the album in 2023 following the release of the bands twelfth studio album Atum: A Rock Opera in Three Acts. In an interview with Kerrang Radio in 2023 Billy Corgan spoke of the new album, stating: “We are already in the studio working on the follow up to ‘Atum’, which I'm happy to say is a straight up rock and roll guitar record". The band initially recorded 20 songs for the album with Coragn wanting to put out a record with "somewhere in the neighbourhood of 10 to 12 songs" on a single record.Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).
