The Seminole State Forest is in the central portion of the U.S. state of Florida. The 25,812 acre (104.46 km2) forest is located within the Wekiva river basin, east of Eustis and northwest of Sanford. Blackwater Creek flows through the forest into the Wekiva River, which forms part of the eastern forest boundary. The land is managed cooperatively with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Cooperative Management Commission.

Access[edit]

Seminole State Forest has two main access points. The gated North and South entrances provide vehicle access. A permit displaying the date and current gate combination is required. A third access point is available for foot traffic.

  • The North entrance is located on Brantley Branch Road, south of Florida State Highway 44, five miles east of County Road 46A (N28° 49.152 W81° 25.685). A large parking area is available for vehicles and horse trailers. The Cassia trailhead at the North entrance marks the point where the Florida Trail enters the Seminole Forest.
  • The South entrance is located on Florida State Highway 46, 5.7 miles west of I-4 exit 51 (N28° 49.152 W81° 25.685). A large parking area is available for vehicles and horse trailers, with fishing available at Bear Pond. The Florida Trail enters the Seminole Forest slightly south of the gate.
  • Foot access is available at a third access point located on Cassia Church Road, south of Florida State Highway 44, 4.9 miles east of County Road 46A (28°53'22.4"N 81°27'54.1"W). Parking for one vehicle is provided, and a 3.2 mile spur trail joins the Florida Trail. s

Camping[edit]

Primitive camping is available at three group campsites, where a reservation is required, and several smaller sites suitable for backpackers. Picnic tables and fire rings are provided at all sites.
