Matrix Dimensions

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Matrix Dimensions is an AD 2101 dystopian science-fiction kung-fu comedy film serving as the fifth installment in the Matrix film series (this does not include The Animatrix). It is considered by many to be a parody film, while others see it as an expansion to the "Matrixiverse", which is already too big.
Development
[edit]Matrix Dimensions was brought up as a dare by his uncool high school friends to make a Matrix movie, but no one takes it seriously. Its plot was first conceptualized after the release of Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Nintendo GameCube, as the idea of multiple characters from multiple universes coming together just to fight was stupid, but the multiple universes part was mad fine. This idea was shelved because, after a script was created by Hugh Mann and half of a Wachowski, it was rejected by Warner Bros. for being "too funny". Warner Bros. has a library with some of the worst comedy movies in existence, and the movie would not only offend actual Matrix viewers, but completely spoil the WB brand image of painfully unfunny comedy movies. The movie was replaced with The Matrix Revolutions, the worst movie in the Matrixiverse (hey, at least it maintained its brand image!).
After some tweaks suggested by the Wachowskis, production began after the script was finally sold to Paramount Pictures in 2012. This is because Paramount Pictures is known to have pinnacle knee-slappers that are the golden standard of timelessness (i.e. Nacho Libre). Casting was open for exactly two days and fourteen minutes, as Paramount chose their leads at random. Over five million people auditioned for Matrix Dimensions, but only eight or nine people actually appear in the film (if Charlie Brown counts as a person). Shooting the film took 25 years to complete, as the bodies and voices were actually scanned and redesigned as artificial intelligence. In fact, the entire film is computer generated, with assistance with the AI personas in the Paramount servers.
Plot
[edit]The plot revolves around Neo and Morpheus in alternate dimensions (e.g. Zeo and Worpheus, Meo and Norpheus, Kuzco and Yzma, &c), all broken up into two-hour chunks of each universe's Neo and Morpheus personas. In total, there are 42 chunks, which has been subject to controversy due to the total runtime of over three days.
Release and reception
[edit]The film had the highest-grossing opening weekend in film history, quintupling the initial budget of $5 billion (above the total gross of Gone With the Wind), and had an overall gross that puts every country in the UN in debt (except Brazil and Papua New Guinea).
The film was an overnight success, with audiences ranking Matrix Dimensions "lightyears ahead of the likes of Super Size Me and Cars", and critics praising its witty humor and its "stark contrast to any film ever released by Warner Bros."
Controversies
[edit]Because the film was released by Paramount Pictures, a potential deal from the LEGO Group to distribute futuristic LEGO kits based on the new Matrix movie were immediately terminated, due to LEGO's long-lasting association with Warner Bros. projects, such as Harry Potter and DC Comics.
