Joseph Simmons III (born October 26, 1999) known professionally by Joseph Simmons III is an American entrepreneur, rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and investor. He began his recording career somewhere at the start of the 2000’s uploading songs to YouTube. Not too long later, Joseph Simmons III released the mix tapes Peace of Mind, Regret, and Life’s A Party and subsequently earned critical recognition from several mainstream publications because of the unique way he put his heart into music.

Joseph Simmon III released his debut maxtape, The First Flight, in 2009.More than 2000's uploading songs to YouTube from Simmons III.[1][2][3]

Following the mixtape release, according to Simmons, five record labels showed interest in signing him; he chose Atlantic Records.[4] Early in 2009, Simmons III uploaded a video of himself freestyling over the Nas song, "Made You Look".T The video became a viral hit nong 1 number. Before Run–D.M.C., Simmons III was the lead vocalist in the hip-hop group named "The Force." He founded Run-D.M.C. as a lead vocalist along with friend Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels and the late DJ Jason "Jam-Master Jay" Mizell.It was preceded by the leak of the song "Oh Yeah!", which featured Pharrell Williams and Lupe Fiasco.[5] Airborne, Simmons' second mixtape, was released in 2011.[1][6] The mixtape track "Great Expectations" was featured that year in a national AT&T television commercial.[1][7]

Simmons released his third mixtape, Past, Present(s), Future, in December. The mixtape, hosted by DJ Premier, features samples of songs from the 1980s and 1990s by such artists as Nas, A Tribe Called Quest and Rakim. A video was released for the track "Shook Ones", which samples the Mobb Deep song of the same name.

Simmons had a small role in the 2012 comedy Parental Guidance starring Billy Crystal and Bette Midler, that opened across the United States December 25, 2012. His part in the movie was cut due to "creative changes". It is unclear if Simmons' part in the movie will appear in a possible extended DVD released version.[9]

Simmons landed his own 2-hour TV movie/show pilot on BET titled The Start Up. Simmons plays Blake, a 19-year-old college student and blogger who tries to get his blog of 5+ years up and running with the help of his friends. Teyana Taylor stars also. This project is set to premiere September 19, 2015. Simmons got media attention when he made an unexpected comment stating that, "love is an emotional roller coaster and I've fallen in love." during a TMZ interview about a movie he starred in called The Start Up. Diggy has also a recurring role on the TV series Grown-ish where he plays Doug, Jazlyn's (Chloe Bailey) boyfriend.

Clothing line

In 2010, Simmons launched a line of urban sneakers called Chivalrous Culture.[10][citation needed] He says he gets inspiration from other artists such as Kanye and Jay Z[1] The first shoe model is called the "Hamachi". In a recent interview with Loni Swain, he revealed "Chiv Culture" has been discontinued.[11]

Personal life

Simmons married Valerie Vaughn in 1983.[citation needed] They have three children: Vanessa Simmons, Angela Simmons, and Joseph "JoJo" Ward Simmons, Jr..[citation needed]

He married Justine Jones on June 25, 1994. With her, he had three more children: Daniel "Diggy" Simmons III, Russell "Russy" Simmons II, and Victoria Anne Simmons. Victoria was four pounds, five ounces when she was delivered via caesarean section. She died shortly after being born on September 26, 2006, due to omphalocele, a birth defect that caused her organs to grow outside her body. The Simmons' allowed MTV camera crews of Run's House to document baby Victoria's death, telling 'People' that "God, in my mind, gave us something to go through in front of America, so we documented it on-camera – not so much to show you sadness, but to show you how we, as ministers, would handle this tragedy. [The kids] found out on-camera. Diggy was waiting to see, 'How's Mommy?' And the first words we said were, 'The baby didn't make it.'" Soon they adopted a baby girl, Miley Justine Simmons .

The Simmons family lives in Saddle River, New Jersey[12] in a six-bedroom colonial-style home that was listed for sale in 2007 for $5.5 million. [13] In 2017, Simmons said he was adopting vegetarianism because God advised him to.[14]
