He is known for sharing juggling videos on the social media platform Tik Tok, where he has over one million followers. [1][2] He runs the Tik Tok account with his girlfriend, Sophia Robinson, a hula hooper from Totnes, England as “Duo Avo”. [3]

Further achievements

[edit]

In 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, Luca Pferdmenges was voted into the Top 40 most popular jugglers in the world, a list that is produced and published annually by the British juggler Luke Burrage. [10][11][12] He is also known for being the youngest person in history to ever juggle 11 balls (at age 13). Pferdmenges accomplished this at the European Juggling Convention 2015 in Brunico, Italy. [13]

In July 2016 he appeared on the Sat.1 talent show “Superkids”, in which he was able to reach the final episode. In the show, he was coached by the Swiss-Italian model Michelle Hunziker. [14][15] In 2018, Luca Pferdmenges was chosen by the Rheinische Post as one of the most influential persons of Mönchengladbach for the year 2018.[16]

Shows and Festivals

In 2017, Pferdmenges performed at the “MuserBattle” in Berlin, an event hosted by the social media platform musical.ly (former Tik Tok). After that, he was invited to perform at the “MuserBattle” finals in Milan, Italy. [17] After the show, he filmed a juggling video with Lisa and Lena, as well as Instagram stories with other social media personalities like Twist and Pulse, the winners of Britain's Got Talent: The Champions. Pferdmenges also filmed short videos for musical.ly with Nick Robertson and danish social media star Rasmus Kolbe, receiving nearly two million views online. [18]

One year later, Pferdmenges performed at the “DoubleTap Live” finale in Milan, which had the same ideas like the former “MuserBattles”, now however no longer run by musical.ly but by Tik Tok. In the show, he premiered his Juggling-Mashup-Show that was created for that event specifically. [19][20]

Luca Pferdmenges attends many juggling festivals. He performed at the European Juggling Convention in 2016 (Almere, Netherlands), 2017 (Lublin, Poland) and 2019 (Newark, England). [21][22][23] Furthermore, he won the Skill-Night of the Aichtal Juggling Convention two times in a row and came 3rd in the “Best Trick Competition” of the Israeli Juggling Convention 2018, as a duo with Daniel Ledel. [24][25][26]

In January 2018, Luca Pferdmenges went on tour through Germany with “Jonglissimo”, as part of the “Feuerwerk der Turnkunst – AURA” show. [27] Also as part of Jonglissimo, he participated in the “17th Wuqiao China International Circus Festival 2019”, in Shijiazhuang, China. [28]

Projects

[edit]

Luca Pferdmenges directed a charity project in February 2020, when he flew to Tabriz, Iran together with Jan Daumin. The two helped the Iranian juggler Amir Reza to perform in the Tv show “Iran's got Talent” and donated juggling props worth over 700€ to enable him a better future, most of which was sponsored by the “Traumfabrik”, a German touring show theatre. However, the charity also raised criticism as it happened during the Covid-19 crisis and was thus considered irresponsible by some people. As a reply, Pferdmenges put up a text on his Instagram story, claiming they did not fly to Iran “because of corona” but “although there is the outbreak” to not disappoint Amir who is hoping for a better future. Pferdmenges further explains “I promised him to come, here I am”. [29][30][31][32]

Social Media

[edit]

Luca Pferdmenges is followed by over 1 million users on Tik Tok. [33] In 2017, he collaborated with musical.ly and launched an official juggling challenge on the app. For one week, musical.ly users could join the challenge by using the hashtag #JonglierenWieEinProfi (translating to #JugglingLikeAPro). More than 6000 videos were submitted in total. [34][35] Later the same year, he uploaded a video of him juggling seven balls in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. This video became the first upload to surpass one million views on his musical.ly account. As of 2020, the video has been viewed more than 2.1 million times and has been liked by over 128 thousand people. Also in 2017, Luca Pferdmenges became the 4th person in history to accomplish a 9 club back to back passing transition. He filmed this trick together with Daniel Ledel at the European Juggling Convention 2017 in Lublin, Poland. The video received almost a million clicks on Tik Tok. [36] Pferdmenges occasionally appeared in musical.ly advertisements on YouTube. He attended an official musical.ly press day in Berlin in 2018, after which his account was verified. [37]

Pferdmenges was featured in the musical.ly recap video 2017, which received more than 6.7 million likes, before the musical.ly account on Tik Tok was deleted after the takeover by ByteDance. [38]

As of 2020, his juggling videos have been watched over 20.6 million times on his profile alone. [39] It is currently listed the 61st most followed Tik Tok account in Germany.[40] In 2020, Pferdmenges changed his Tik Tok username from @lucapferdmenges to @duoavo, as he now runs the account with his girlfriend Sophia Robinson as Duo Avo.
