HackerRank (formerly known as InterviewStreet) is an Indian software startup that works in the domain of competitive programming contests and technical hiring. The company was founded in 2009 with the aim to improve technical hiring by providing tools that help assess coding skills of software engineers. With Facebook and Amazon as its initial clients and the funding from Y Combinator, the company gained momentum and set up its office in Palo Alto. The company now operates from Bangalore and Palo Alto and boasts of customers like Palantir, VMWare, Quora, Facebook, and Flipkart. Other than tech hiring, its competitive programming platform has around a million registered users who regularly participate in the Weekly Contests, Hackathons and annual Codesprints.

[edit]HackerRank is a free platform where hobbyists and professional coders come to solve programming problems. The website has some well defined tracks like Algorithms, Machine Learning and Functional Programming. They organize weekly and monthly coding contests along with annual Codesprints. Through Codesprints, many have found jobs in Silicon Valley tech startups.
