Company history[edit]

The foundations for the company FRIMO were laid in 1962. Fritsche Möllmann GmbH & Co. KG was founded in Bohmte a district of Osnabrück, Germany and managed to establish itself in the market as a supplier of foam molds for PU processing and model construction.

Due to constant expansion and growth in staff numbers, the company was eventually moved to its current location of Lotte, Germany in 1969.

Given the fact that FRIMO's international markets were constantly gaining importance, an American branch, FRIMO USA Inc., was founded in Detroit, Michigan in 1990.

A year later, in 1991, FRIMO expanded its business activities to south-eastern Europe. First, an aluminum foundry was taken over in Budapest, and later a model construction company was founded in Hungary. In 1993, FRIMO founded a device construction company in Mór. Today, this factory is the headquarters for FRIMO Hungary Kft.

In 1995, FRIMO took over Anton Huber GmbH & Co. KG, which is now known as FRIMO Freilassing GmbH, thus expanding its range of products and services. The technology portfolio included thermoforming, laminating and edge folding. In the same year, FRIMO received the sought-after SPE Automotive Division Award for the first time.

In 1998, FRIMO developed further into a systems supplier. With the takeover of Schmidt + Link Werkzeugbau GmbH, now known as FRIMO Sontra GmbH, the technology portfolio was expanded to include punching as well as pressing and forming. Polish company SLP was integrated into the FRIMO Group as FRIMO Poland Sp. z o.o. ul. With the foundation of FRIMO Control Systems GmbH in Ainring, Germany, the company’s expanded in the field of control technology.

In 1999, the company expanded its international activities further and founded FRIMO Group GmbH, a holding company designed to coordinate and control business activities worldwide, in Lotte. Oroszlànyi Gèpjavìtò Kft. was taken over in Hungary, and Lyon Industries & Design Inc. was bought over on the American market.

In 2001, FRIMO reorganized its structure in the American market. The companies FRIMO USA Inc. and Lyon Industries & Design Inc. merged into FRIMO Inc.

In 2004, FRIMO became one of the world’s largest suppliers of production technologies for manufacturing plastic components for the automotive industry through the takeover Heidel.

In 2005, FRIMO stepped up its commitment in Asia with its own sales, service and production location in Shanghai.

In 2006, the company expanded its range of services. Three new business divisions were created: plastic joining and automation technology at the new location in Hamburg, Germany as well as PU mixing/metering and plant technology in Lotte.

With the takeover of the company bo|parts in Nentershausen, Germany, FRIMO strengthened its range of services in the field of spare parts manufacture in 2007.

In 2010, TechCenters were opened in Lotte and in the US.

2012 saw the 4th FRIMO Forum, an international conference with a technology show, take place under the motto "50 Years of Global Competence".

In 2013, a TechCenter was opened in Hamburg.
