The creatures shown here can be mistaken for dinosaurs for the following reasons.
Pterosaur and Ichthyosaur are Mesozoic Era animals like dinosaurs, and Dimetrodon and Postosuchus are so similar to dinosaurs that they are difficult to distinguish, Ammonites, Anomalocaris, Megalodon, and Cyanobacteria appear quite often in dinosaur movies and ancient Earth media, so they are often mistaken for dinosaurs. Australopithecus, Petrolacosaurus, and Spriggina are often misunderstood simply because they are paleo-like dinosaurs. In addition, Archaeothyris, Archaeonycteris is often misunderstood because its scientific name is similar to the dinosaur Archaeopteryx, and Sphinx moth is similar to the modern dinosaur, hummingbird, so it is sometimes misunderstood as a dinosaur. Additionally, modern reptiles and amphibians such as Axolotl, Gavial, and Leopard Gecko are sometimes mistaken as descendants of dinosaurs.
