Andrea Tierra (born December 7, 1981) in Medellín, Colombia, is a Colombian singer, songwriter and poet. Andrea was born into a family tradition of talented musicians and performers. Andrea started singing popular Spanish tunes at the age of 4. She became more familiar with the world of acting and singing at age 12 by performing regularly with her father’s theater company. They traveled through out the United States with much success.
In 2000, she moved to New York where she embarked in a solo singing career. Tierra performs regularly as the Andrea Tierra Quartet along side Sam Sadigursky on flute, clarinet, saxophone, David Silliman drums/percussion and Edmar Castañeda. At times she performs as a guest singer with the Edmar Castañeda Trio.
Tierra has performed at the Colombian Heritage Festival at the Madison Square Garden were she was well received by the audience. She has traveled and performed at The New Orleans Jazz Festival, Panama Jazz Festival, The Bayside Festival of Miami, The Latino Festival of New York, Lowell Folk Festival, Twins Jazz Festival, Colombia Jazz Festivals, Oklahoma Jazz Festival, Punta del Este Jazz Fest and world music re-known venues as Satalla, Jazz Gallery, Zink bar, Sweet Rhythms,]] Blue Note, Jazz Standard, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, among others.
In her most recent work, Andrea Tierra presents her poems and songs with different styles of music from Latin America such as Cumbia, [Bambuco]] and Joropo, Zamba
