  1. ^ Ragecore (also known as Trap metal and Scream rap) is a subgenre of music that fuses elements of Heavy metal music, Trap music, Punk rock, Hardcore music and Industrial music. It is identified by its distorted 808 drums, kick pattern, dark melody and sometimes heavy guitar. Prxjek, a rapper from Conneticut but lives in Florida, coined the term Ragecore. Other artists associated with Ragecore include Kamiyada, Tankhead666, Cameronazi, Scarlxrd, Ghostemane, ZillaKami and the earlier, aggressive music style of the late XXXTentacion. Ski Mask the Slump God also dabbles in a bit of Ragecore. Producers like Ronny J, The Virus and The Antidote, Plurbs, Xerogi and Thraxx also are major influences on the Ragecore genre. Ragecore is very closely associated with Trap metal, though most artists and even fans dislike the term. Ragecore seems to be the more accepted term to describe the heavy form of music.

The term "Ragecore" comes from metal's classification system; the term "core" meaning breakdown of merging two styles. For example, Hardcore is a mix of punk and heavy metal, with techno and gabber. "Core" just simply means a breakdown. "Rage" in the term Ragecore is the theme mostly expressed within the music. Rage being hate or anger being expressed in the music. It is a music often used to release or express problems such as suicide, depression, violence and any other forms of stress dealing with the world.

The vocal delivery is often in Scream vocals mainly used in Heavy metal genres like Black metal, Death metal and Metalcore. Other times the "screams" are simply just yells often used in music genres like Powerviolence and Hardcore punk. Regular vocals can be in Ragecore songs, but it is difficult to hear quieter vocals when the drums and guitars are heavily distorted.

Ragecore is not to be confused with Nu metal or Nu metalcore, though at times they can sound similar.
