Sarva Yoga (commonly known as Sarva), is an Indian yoga studio chain founded in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Founded by Sarvesh Shashi in 2013 earlier known as Zorba[1], the company was renamed as Sarva Yoga Studio in March 2016. The brand is co-founded by Bollywood actress Malaika Arora[2]


Started in Chennai as a single store unit, Sarva is now in 30 cities with 90 stores in India and in 3 locations in London.[3] The brand claims to have a customer base of over 55000.[4] In the year 2020, Sarva also launched it's digital format for yoga training[5] by the name The Sarva Yoga App with programs focusing on body and mind[6][7]

History

Sarvesh, the founder of Sarva had his first exposure to Yoga at the age of 17, when his father when his father, Shashi Kumar (chairman of the Chennai-based conglomerate, Sabari Group) took up an expensive class and could not continue it[8]. After seeing the benefits of Yoga in himself, Sarvesh, with the help of his mentor Vijayendra, started the yoga brand Zorba in 2013[9]. Zorba in Greek means living each day to the fullest. The brand was later renamed as Sarva which means "all" in Sanskrit[8]

The company is currently valued at USD 20 million[4] as per the last round of funding.

The brand has raised investments from:

In December 2019, Sarva Yoga raised Indian Rupees 20 Crore from the venture capital firm Fireside Ventures[17] and in April 2020 it raised funding from US-based VC Fund Mantra Capital, and the Patni Family.[18] In August 2020, the company raised an undisclosed funding from the international music provider Cutting Edge Group.[19]

Sarva has a brand dedicated for women called as Diva Yoga which operates in Mumbai and Chennai. This is founded by Sarvesh Shashi, Malaika Arora and the Chennai unit is backed by Aishwarya Dhanush[10][20]
